• Great start!

Well, June has had a wonderful start so far.  Monday, June 2 was the 2nd anniversary for my husband and I for being married.

Last year at this time, well, that Monday, one year ago, we found out we were pregnant with our little Eli. Prior to that, the end of April we had taken a trip to Newport, RI, mostly because neither of us had been there before.  We had such a great time we continued that tradition this year and stayed again at the Jailhouse Inn.  Its located right in the heart of Newport, well, what I call the heart because its close to just about everything.  We had such beautiful weather, and Eli did so well traveling.  Now on the car ride up, he slept the first 3 and a half hours, then woke up so we could feed him, let me tell you, breastfeeding in the car, in parking lots, not so fun….We went the next 2 and a half hours then our little man started to scream!  He cried until we were able to pull over at Mystic Seaport and get him fed, yet again, in the car, not so fun.  Finally we arrived in Newport!

As soon as we checked in, we gave Eli some out of carseat time then put him in the jogging stroller and began walking around town.  We celebrated our anniversary that night at The Mooring, a seafood restaurant right on the water.  Kyle had some seared tuna, which was delicious, I had no idea I liked it, and I had some pan seared scallops.  Eli was so cute in his little outfit, the same as his dedication, and well, he was stubborn and had to sit on mommy’s lap most of the time.  We went back to the room, fed Eli, and broke open our bottle of wine from the Newport Vineyards!  Then, well, the cat slept in the moon light, a few times….

The next day we got up, walked around to look at some of the boats, then off to the beach for Eli’s first experience on the beach.  We were there about 3 hours, got nice and burnt, had some frozen lemonade, did a wine tasting, and headed back to the inn.  We decided to go out to dinner again at the Quahog Company, or something like that, a restaurant that specializes in clam stuff.  It was delicious.  We went back and chilled at the inn just relaxing and recovering from a long day in the sun.

Finally, today, we woke up to rain, but that did not dampen our spirits!  We toured the Rosecliff Mansion on Belleview avenue.  It was a great time!  We can’t believe its already June!  Heres to a great summer!

  • Teething much?

So we think our little Elijah may be starting to teeth.  He is normally such a great baby that does not really cry too much, loves to get passed around, can get placed in his play place or bouncer and be content.

Well, starting this week, well the last 3 or so days, my son has become Mr. McFussy Fusserson.  I am not sure if he definitely is teething but it appears so.  He is constantly chewing on his hands and puts any toy he has into his mouth.  While eating, he’ll feed for about 5 minutes then starts crying until I put him on the other side, then feeds for another 10 minutes and cries more.  I feel bad for my little man.  Any time I put him down, he screams, unless of course he has fallen asleep then I can lay him down, but as soon as he wakes, look out.  Hopefully this will get better and we will figure out if he is teething for sure.  I do not know how much more I can handle of his fussiness.  Thank goodness for my husband!

  • Elijah’s Dedication

This past weekend Elijah was dedicated at our church.  It was a really great.  We had to go to the 11 service at church which was kind of late for us, but we made it!

We told both of our families to be at the church at 10:30 and both made it on time!  Eli was dressed in the cutest outfit of course.  We went through the worship and prayer and finally it was our turn.  We went up on stage and Pastor Jamie took our little guy, and of course he did not scream because hes so good, he cuddle right in.  We had such a good time and then afterwards went to my parents house for a big bbq with both families.  All we can do now is hope to guide Eli in a Godly path and that he will choose the right way.

  • Rockin’ and Strollin’

My jogging stroller came!  I took her out for a spin!  She rides like a dream and she puts Eli to sleep in no time flat!

  • The Day After

My little ball of fun woke up today hot as a baked potato, and more cranky than I’ve ever seen him.

My poor little guy had a fever of 101.5 degrees, so I gave him some Tylenol.  A good thing about the tylenol is that he really enjoys the grape taste!  For the next 2 hours or so after he ate, he just cried and cried, I even had to call in Dad for reinforcements.  A couple of Tylenol doses later he was back down to 99.4, a much happier!  He finally smiled at me, I thought he was mad at me for making him go through all that pain.  He even started to giggle and laugh, so all in all, not too bad.

I did spoil him today like nobody’s business, letting him sleep on me, holding him as he cried, singing “The Itsy Bitsy Spider” like 10 times.  I love my little man :).

  • Dessert much?

    I want this

    yummy

  • Doctor’s Appointment!

Today was Elijah’s 4 month appointment.  I am proud of my little guy.  He has jumped from the 30th percentile from the 25th.  He now weights 14 pounds 4 ounces, and is 24 and a half inches long.

At this time he has rolled over from his belly to his back, 3 times, but not again since, even though he really has tried!  I think he has mastered the art of eating his own hand and shoving his fist in his mouth, haha.  I filled out one of those developmental survey things and he is doing pretty good I think.

We had to stop at grasping objects on his own.  His hair is ever growing and I’ve had to trim the back of his hair so to avoid a mullet.  More frequently now he is giggling with stimulus as well as smiling when people talk to him in a funny voice, or even if his mommy or daddy just talk to him :).  Elijah enjoys standing on his feet, hes got some strong legs! The worst part of the appointment was the immunizations.  Poor Elijah screamed with the reddest face I’ve seen him have yet.  It took me about 15 minutes to calm my poor son down after his shots.  Since, I have spoiled him!  He is too cute!

Currently I am still loving being a stay at home mom.  Its the best job in the world!  I’ve had some struggles with low back pain, which luckily one of my former coworkers advised me for!  That is feeling better except for when I’m holding him for a long period of time, or have him in my wrap.  I’m excited because I get my jogger this week!  I cannot wait to put that to use!  So all and all, things are great.  Motherhood is the best!  We have Elijah’s dedication this weekend and about 30 family members coming between the church service and party at my parents afterward.  I’m ready for baby number two…..well, maybe in another few months!

  • The thing about cold weather in May

The thing about cold weather in May is that all those cold weather outfits that I thought Eli would not be able to wear because its getting warm out and they were too big on him, well, he can wear them now!  Not that I am at all enjoying this cold weather, but Eli has a bit of an extended wardrobe which is fine by me!  Hes so cute.  I love my little man.

    Where\'s Eli?

  • Rockin’ and Rollin’…literally!

So tonight, May 15th, 2009, my son, Elijah Michael rolled over!  I gave him his bath and then afterwards I laid him on his changing table to get him dried off.  After that I typically lay him on the floor for his belly time, so thats what I did.  He was being pretty cute and nice and naked, such a cute little tush.  He was down on his belly and lifted his head up, which hes been doing for the last 2 weeks, and then, he started to push with his arms.  Next thing I know hes rocking from side to side, and I thought, “This boy is going to roll over!”  I called for Kyle to come upstairs, and while he was working on coming up, Eli was laying on his left side.  Finally, he rolled over on to his back!  I thought, wow, that was awesome, but lets make sure it was not a fluke, so I put him back on his belly and he rolled over again!  He rolled over 3 times total!  I’m such a proud mommy right now!
