• These boots are made for walkin’

Okay, I did not go walking in boots, but I did go for a nice long walk today.  After looking in the mirror, I realized that its time I start working out.  I need to push through the back pain, get over the fact that I still do not have my jogging stroller and just get out there and walk.  So, I gathered up my little man, and walked around town for about 40 minutes.  It felt good, its nice weather, I worked up a sweat, Eli slept alot of the walk, so that was good.  It felt great on my legs to get moving.  I need to get motivated and continue to walk each day so I can work up to a jog, for when I get my stroller, which will actually be next week.  Its the Jeep one as pictured below.  Please let those pounds come shedding off.

  • Ouch…

So, my back still hurts, but I was able to hold Eli much better today and I can stand better. I was even able to get to the grocery store.  Three cheers for double stuffed oreos 2/$5!!  Wooo.

  • Mother’s day recap

Well, I woke up on Mother’s Day morning at about 6:30am, not to a crying baby, but to intense low back pain.  I rolled around in bed for about an hour trying to get comfortable, which turned out to be impossible.  My husband slept nice and soundly.  Elijah was still not awake, so I thought maybe a nice hot shower would help my back.  Well, 15 minutes later, still not feeling better.  It was about 8:10 I woke Elijah up.  I fed him, and got him in his mother’s day outfit.  We soon left for church where I put Elijah in the nursery for the second time.  This time I did not cry.  I fidgeted through out the service because I had so much pain in my back.  After the service I walked around proudly with my son, but had to hand him over to Kyle because of my back.

We got home and Kyle gave me a card and some chocolate for mother’s day.  After snacking on a few pieces I went upstairs and laid in bed praying for my pain to go away.  We then went down to my parents house in preparation of the mother’s day dinner with my mom.  My mom had told me she did not get me a card for mother’s day and I was kind of disappointed since it was my first one.  To my surprise she had a whole pot full of flowers for my deck, and a huge Carvel ice cream cake!  Dinner with my family was pretty hilarious from yelling across the table to Elijah pooping while my sister’s boyfriend Eric was holding him.  We had our ceremonious dry ball battle as well as a new “moist” ball battle, haha.

Back at my parents we had our second round of ice cream cake, and Kyle and my youngest sister played Dr. Mario for hours, haha.  I painfully laid on the floor trying to make my back pain go away.  While laying on the floor my sister’s dog came to sit next to me. I was thinking Nani was going to just want to get pet, but, she threw up on me.  I cried.  For the first 20 minutes driving home, I cried.  So over all, Mother’s Day was great, but my back killed me, I could barely hold my son, and I did not get my “Mom” mug.  I’ll bet they are like 50% off now though.  Three cheers for ice cream cake!

  • First Mother’s Day!

I am so excited for tomorrow, my very first mother’s day!  All my life I have looked forward to being a mom and now I am one!  There are a few holidays during the year that really get me excited, Thanksgiving, Thanksmas, my birthday, and now Mother’s Day!  I love Thanksgiving because of all the family time of fellowship and especially all the food!  I love Thanksmas because our closest friends get together and we fellowship and eat lots of great food!  My birthday, well because I’m super excited to be alive.  And now Mother’s day because now They Call Me Mom.

My son is so amazing, as is my husband who helped me to create him.  Being a stay at home mom is one of the best life choices I have made because I get to be there for it all!  Who knows, I may go back part-time, but come on, my son is the cutest!  This past week and the one before Eli has really started to laugh, well, giggle, haha, a nice deep belly giggle.  Its probably the cutest sound I have ever heard.  We were at our bible study the other night, and I fed him, laid him down to change him, and something made that boy crack up.  He was laughing so hard and kicking his legs like he was running in a marathon.  I love those special moments between he and I.  There are not many things better than your little man looking at you and smiling, and knowing who you are.  He looks at me and with his eyes I can see him saying, “I love you Mom, you are my mom and I know you.”  Happy Mother’s day out there to all of you mothers!

  • Rub a dub dub

I think one of my favorite times to bond with Eli is during bath time.  My mom had gotten us this Johnson’s bedtime bath stuff, its lavender scented or whatever.  I used to put him in the shower with me, when he was a lot smaller, it was just easier.  Now, he can kinda sit in the tub and he actually really loves the warm water on himself.  First we do the feet and legs, then his “delicates”, next the belly and arms, especially the hands.  Then we do the back and behind.  Finally I wash his hair.  As you have probably seen from my little man’s pictures, he’s got a lot of hair!

After we bath I put him in the towel and lay him on the floor on a blanket so he can be naked!  He loves his naked time.  His legs go and go like he’s running.  I like to put him on his stomach at this time which now, at 3 and a half months, he is getting that head up off the floor!  I’m such a proud mommy.  He does not cry as quickly now on his belly like he used to.  Usually he likes to pee at some point during naked time so I’ve learned to keep him covered better and pad the area, when my boy pees, boy does he ever pee!  Usually I can get him smiling and talking a bunch during naked time.  Finally we get him into his pajamas then its just about time for bed.  Well, final feeding then bedtime! I love bath time.

  • Jogger schmogger

I have recently been going crazy trying to pick a jogging stroller.  I have read more reviews than I can count, and totally would go with a BOB jogger, however, the coin is a bit more than I’d like to spend.  I really do not love jogging, but I live in a city where the sidewalks can be kind of challenging with my Chicco stroller, and I do want to do a couple 5K races this summer.  There are a couple of strollers I’ve been trying to go after.  I went to get one on Craigslist, but stupid craigslist always disappoints me.  Its like, I know that Jess is going to get on and she’ll want this stroller, so lets just give it to anyone else but her.  Haha, that makes me sound like I’m 12 years old.  I may go with the Jeep Jogger.  We after all are jeep people.stroller

I think if I had to do it all over again, I’d not get the Chicco Cortina System, I’d get a travel system with a jogging stroller and get an umbrella stroller or something and I’d just use the carrier for outings and what not.  If I could be a new mom again, there are things I’d do differently.  Like start with the Moby Wrap from the beginning and not have the Bjorn.  I’m working on eventually getting an Ergo Carrier and probably selling the Bjorn because there is no way my husband will wrap himself in the Moby…

  • Frustrating day

I feel like I am in a compete funk.  My clothes don’t fit, I can’t find a jogging stroller on sale, my hair is falling out and at incredible rate, I really did not enjoy my turkey sandwich and I’m mad I ate it, and well, I guess thats all.  I am finally ordering a whole bunch of pictures of Eli from the last month or so.  Oh man, I could go for chocolate…where is my 2 pound bag of m&ms?

  • My Two Loves

    My Two Loves

Kyle and I met when I was a senior in high school and he was a junior.  Good thing I did not know he was a junior since at that point in my life, I definitely did not want to date a younger man….So God worked things out and Kyle and I dated all through college and ended up getting married.  We were married on June 2, 2006, a lovely rain filled day, but amazing all the same.  Our honeymoon was spent in Cancun Mexico with a great room, amazing in room hot tub, and well, really comfy beds if you know what I mean, haha.

I am so thankful for such an amazing husband.  Sure there are things that annoy me, such as the fact he does not rinse dishes off before he puts them in the sink, of if he does, he leaves the “used food” in the sink, which I can’t stand!  As we talked about before, he is a chronic channel surfer, I’m thinking about getting him some intervention soon.  It amazes me how laundry or trash bags can sit in the hall for days without him so much as realizing they are there.  Despite all of this, well many other things too, haha, I love him more than anything in the world, except for Christ, who knows that I love Him the absolute most.  Kyle has this way of smiling at me, this way of hugging me, telling me he loves me, and really just knowing what I need.  For my birthday he gave me a shopping spree pretty much!  He was away for the last four days and my bed was so empty.  I’m so glad that hes home.  I love him.

Then there is my new love, Elijah.  I never knew how much I could love someone that I have only  known for such a short period of time.  He is my most favorite baby in the whole world.  Look out future daughter in law.  Just kidding!  No really…he is never leaving me.  I told Kyle we will probably have to homeschool him, haha.  There is nothing quite like his smile, those big eyes, those chubby legs.  I love my men!

  • Mambo Italiano

So since Kyle has gone out of town, my sisters have come to keep me company.  They are holding and watching Eli so I can get a little bit of a break, so in return and thanks, I have decided to make lasagna.  Now, my sisters are not very big eaters, so I made this huge lasagna, only 3 pieces are gone, and I think there are like 9 pieces left, haha.  If only my dear husband was home, he’d have attacked that baby.  And by baby I mean the lasagna, not our baby Elijah.  The lasagna was a success however!  Not too bad for my first time.

  • My husband, the channel surfer

So every night when my husband is done with work, he comes down stairs, grabs the remote and proceeds to watch every single channel that we get on our TV.  I’m not sure why he finds this relaxing, but every night, he cannot handle it unless he has the remote in hand.  Sometimes I “loose” it so that he can’t find it, and he can’t handle watching the commercials.  Now, I love my husband, but this whole remote thing, oiy.  From now on, as long as he channel surfs, I will not put the toilet paper on the toilet paper holder…take that my love!
